Gone are whiskey driven nights,
Where smoke rings formed our memories.
When lamplight told forbidden tales,
Of who we were
and were to be.
Where laughter hid the feelings deep,
As music spoke the words we feared.
These days our love is plain to see,
And loud enough for all to hear.
Naïve was I so scared of life,
A prisoner to my inner fears.
While you embraced each challenge set,
And gave me strength throughout those years.
Two worlds entwined those moments gone,
For now and all eternity.
Now all that’s left is you and I,
The way it always should have been.
