The Concrete Jungle

Manchild

Sitting on the night bus

Workday now behind you

Giggles from the back row

Sniggers from behind you

Kids out on the rampage

Bullies that despise you

You smile at them so sweetly

Bow your head retreating

Picking at the seating

Feet nervously tapping

Still the kids are laughing

Dodging cracks in pavements

Gaps in time to fall through

Games you’re always playing

Watch out they’re behind you

Close your eyes in darkness

Light that cannot shine through

A lifetime lost in childhood

Whisper lest they find you.
